That time I sort of... lied to Trevor Noah.
There is always something going on in this city and I love it! The Daily show created a satirical pop-up museum dedicated to Trump's infamous tweets from before and during his presidency. It was quite honestly one of the funniest things I've ever experienced. My cousin who lives here invited me to meet her there, and I'm so glad I did. We waited in line and chatted for at least an hour. As we got closer to the entrance, we heard commotion towards the middle of the line. We looked back, and saw that it was Trevor Noah, the host of The Daily Show, walking through the crowd. Me, being the stalker that I am, fumbled through my purse to get my phone to snap a pic of him. Also me, who usually has a purse full of junk so I couldn't pull it out in time. He kept walking toward us, and then he stopped! Right in front of us! My cousin had met him previously, so I'm pretty sure he spotted her out in the line. He asked us where we were from, and I said that I was from Oklahoma. He then asked me how I felt about KD winning a championship with Golden State. Ok... so since this is my personal blog my aim is to be semi-transparent; translucent, if you will. The truth is, I am not a Thunder fan. I couldn't care less whether they win everything, or win nothing at all. I don't dislike them; if they're playing, I'll root for them. But I'm a Laker fan. My father is, and has always been a Laker fan; it's literally all I know. You know how little girls plan out their wedding when they're growing up? Well for the longest time, longer than I'd like to admit actually, I wanted my wedding colors to be purple and gold because I loved the Lakers so much. It's embarrassing, I know. Anyway, back to his question. I realized almost immediately that explaining to him why I wasn't a Thunder fan wouldn't make for good TV (I wasn't on TV but just in case. I mean, you never know). Instead, I eluded to the fact that as a state we were NOT happy with him leaving. He then said "Oh come on, he won a championship, don't you think you guys could be a little happy for him?" I go, "Eh, not quite." I pretended to be a salty/ticked off Thunder fan. He laughed at my fake disappointment and made a joke that I can't remember because I was so starstruck. But when he came back around he wished me a safe trip back to Oklahoma. In conclusion, I love him and we'll be friends forever.
Also, I turned 27 this week! The birthday love expressed through social media, texts and calls always makes me feel amazing. Based on the recommendation made by a friend who lives in Harlem, I decided to try the Mexican restaurant Picante. It was sooo worth it! I had been craving tacos since I'd gotten here but I didn't want to be disappointed. I'm spoiled by my favorite taco spots in Tulsa. I also got my meal payed for by a man who asked me why I was eating alone. He made being alone sound much more devastating than it was. It was actually kind of pleasant. But YES to free tacos!
